Back in the day I used to do a little weekly round up and I used to really enjoy taking a moment to reflect on the past week and share what I’d been up to. So, I thought it would be a good place to start now that I’ve started the blog back up again!
I’ve got a few highlights from this week – first up and probably the most interesting is that my walk to run program is still going well! I finished up week 4, which included 10 minutes of non-stop running in the 3rd run of the week. It’s going well and I am, so far, feeling strong and pain free. On Monday I had a little shin pain but after pushing the plan right a day, it didn’t come back on the middle run – phew!
I was talking in my last post about wanting to do more races again, and as there clearly aren’t going to be many (if any) this year, I treated myself to my first virtual medal! I was looking at virtual race options, but it seems a bit strange to run a race that should have been in a particular location (unless that was a race you were specifically training for). So I went for this one instead:
It’s a medal in support of the NHS, and you can challenge yourself to run any distance you like and then just pop your medal on after. I thought it would be a nice little celebration of finishing the walk to run program, even though a bit silly, and spur me on to keep up with the post run injury prevention exercises and stretches – let’s hope I haven’t jinxed it by buying a medal though!
Another highlight that started as a lower aspect of the week is that we got a new fridge freezer after the old freezer broke (and our fridge was falling apart). I mean, in the grand scheme of life it’s not exactly exciting is it? Even a bit of a boring adult thing to be pleased about, like getting a new vacuum cleaner for Christmas. But this is lockdown so everything has changed, and the delivery of a new kitchen appliance, including the accomplishment of getting it through a narrow corridor and down a flight of stairs unscathed, does in fact make it up there on the highlights of my week!
And as we’re on the subject of things-that-wouldn’t-normally-be-happening-but-they-are-because-of-COVID, we had our first video quiz night last night! We’re a bit late to the party on this one, but we really enjoyed it and now we’re asking everyone else we know if they’d like to do a quiz with us too!
Other than that, I’ve been enjoying teaching my yoga and fitness classes, and keeping up my own fitness. This evening Lucy and I did a partner power bag workout which was something a bit different, and good fun! I am missing the gym but I’m really glad we have a good range of exercise equipment from when I was teaching boot camp classes to keep things fresh!
I hope you’ve had a good week too, well, as good as can be right now!
Have you done a virtual quiz night yet?
How are you finding lockdown?
