5 Yoga poses to boost confidence

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post on how exercise can improve confidence. Today, I’m bringing you a post on 5 yoga poses to improve confidence that you can pop into your practice straight away for a self-esteem boost!

Let’s jump straight in!

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana 

First we have upward facing dog. This is a beginner level backbend which will stimulate the manipura chakra, which is the confidence and self-esteem energy centre of the body. It will also open your heart and provide a source of inner power.

Virabhadrasana II

Another beginner-friendly pose, warrior 2 encourages you to channel your inner warrior, inspiring confidence, strength and power. Root down through the feet to become an unshakeable force, whilst remaining soft in the upper body to create harmony.

Navasana 

A little more advanced, boat pose will energise and strengthen your solar plexus (manipura) chakra, whilst inspiring confidence as you work to master this pose. Start with bend legs, holding behind the knees, then work up to eventually extending the legs and opening the arms whilst lifting the heart.

Utthita Trikonasana 

Feel your self esteem soar as you open the hips in triangle pose, allowing negative emotions stored in this area to release. At the same time, it’s hard not to feel a confidence boost while expanding through the heart and stretching the arms wide. 

Natarajasana 

Finally, one of my favourite yoga poses is dancer’s pose. Everyone does this one a little differently, and it’s a great way to express yourself. The backbend opens the heart and stimulates the manipura chakra, whilst the hips open for emotional release. If that wasn’t enough, who doesn’t feel awesome when holding this balance?!
